TASK: You have had a bank account for a few years. Recently you received a letter from the bank stating that your account is $240 overdrawn and that you will be charged $70 which will be taken directly from your account. You know that this information is incorrect.

Write a letter to the bank. Explain what has happened and say what you would like them to do about it.

Dear Madam or Sir,

I am writing to you in order to complain about a mistake which has been made by one of your clerks and ask for taking quick measures so that this problem will be solved.

On July 13, my latest bank statement was delivered to my house, which affirmed that I had $240 overdraft and $70 would be withdrawn from my bank account as a payment for this debt. I immediately tried to contact your customer service representative, which took me a long time, and when my call was answered in the end after 45 minutes of waiting, Mr Smith wrote down my personal and contact information, promised me to check all the data and to return my call within 24 hours. Three days have passed since the time I talked to the clerk, and there is still no reply from him.

I would respectfully suggest that this situation (should) be resolved and Mr Smith be informed on the bank policy regarding communication with clients.

I hope for your swift actions in this matter.
